Jerry Horton

Jerry Horton is a transplant from New York who loves helping people reach their fullest potential. With 25 years of experience in the nonprofit world and entertainment industry in both New York and Phoenix, he has made significant contributions. Jerry co-founded the SoulWest Film Fest, an African-American Film Festival, and Blaq Film Night, a monthly film series showcasing aspiring filmmakers of color locally and internationally. He debuted his feature short film, “The UnAmerican,” at the FilmBar in Phoenix, Arizona, and it was featured in the 2020 edition of A Night of Misfit Films.

As a workshop facilitator, Jerry organized the first-ever video podcasting seminar at B&H in New York. His outstanding work in the community has earned him numerous awards and recognition, including a citation from the Borough President of Brooklyn. Currently, he operates a creative collaborative called Blaq Film Group (formerly Filmmakers of Color in the Valley), aimed at bringing together filmmakers of color and allies to foster a thriving film scene in the Valley.
