Carol Stewart, a retired middle school teacher, arrived in Arizona 5 years ago and created her own niche within the Tempe community through the African American Advisory Committee, as the Youth Chair, and the Tempe Museum. She was awarded the Tempe Diversity Award in 2023 for her Kids Activity Day, held at the Tempe Museum, celebrating Black History Month. She was also the featured recipient in an article written in the March edition of the Wrangler News regarding the award.
Throughout her career she has had a unique approach by incorporating art and science, using natural materials, to show the relationship of art in science through crafts.
Her objective and her passion have always been, whether in a classroom or presenting a workshop, to represent art in a way that every child can explore their artistic abilities thru various mediums with a nature theme.
Her unique perspective truly enhances the artistic experience for each child.
The children learn that art is a universal language that can be used as an educational doorway to various disciplines.
